Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Great experience. Best Sweet tea in Mountain Home (maybe the only place lol) its actually sweet. Ribs fell off the bones 9/10 solid. Cajun mac n cheese was very good. Catfish was really good and the sweet corn was very sweet. Overall good, we'll be back."
"Tried Taste of Texas for the first time and was not disappointed! Portions are HUGE so make sure you go hungry! Presentation was very pretty and everything tasted amazing. only complaint was that it was freezing inside, but nothing they can’t really control, thank you for the awesome food and service!"
"Fall off the bone ribs, delicious brisket so tender, pulled pork to die for. Homemade bbq sauce.... Okra and southern style beans perfect. Staff friendly and helpful. Peach cobbler nachos my new favorite. We will definitely be back."
"This place is the best BBQ in treasure valley area. The service was definitely southern hospitality and the atmosphere was amazing loved that there wasn’t loud music playing. Their food was top tier taste just like what it tastes like when I visited Texas. It’s amazing small business!"
"The value was great and the portion size was generous. I ordered the loaded baked potato with pulled pork and it was packed with flavor. The meat was tender and the toppings like green onions, bacon, sour cream, and ranch really brought everything together. The BBQ sauce had that tangy Texas-style flavor but I do wish it had been a bit thicker and richer to better coat the meat. There was also quite a bit of butter or grease pooling at the bottom which made the last few bites a little too heavy. I would recommend trying."
"Great food! The pulled pork is perfect, especially with their signature sauce. The fried okra is cooked perfectly and tasted great. The southern sweet tea tasted exactly how I expect sweet tea to tast. My family and I loved everything we got. We also got a lemon blueberry cheesecake to go and I just tried it and it's amazing too and so beautifully presented too! Being from the south myself, it's hard to find good, true southern food in Idaho, but this hit the mark on everything. Also, the service was great!"
"Ordered the Catfish Plate which came with two sides. I chose the Cajun Rice and Potato Salad which happens to be mustard based. I specify that because I normally don’t like mustard potato salads, but this one was GREAT! Service was quick. The food was fresh and tasty. EVERYTHING had flavor. And the portions are large! So worth it! I almost forgot the green beans. Nice chunks of ham hock in there. And even with there being fat in it, it was cooked so well, it melted in your mouth and gave a lot of extra flavor! Of course, if that’s not your thing, you can always easily fish it out. I haven’t had soul food that was THAT good this far North in a long time. And the staff are incredibly kind and hospitable. Give this place a try!"
"I’m visiting from California and wanted to try the food! I experienced excellent customer service, very hospitable. I felt so comfortable, like moms and pops place. I ordered Mac and cheese and loved it! Shareable portions. Cheesecakes are delicious!! And also the spicy cabbage is so very good, actually my fave."
